Fenelon Falls, Ontario- June 20, 2014

Day 112
Miles Today: 15 SM; Total Miles: 2,261 SM
Locks Today: 1 ; Total Locks: 69

Another short day….we like these short days. We’re stopping more frequently because it happens that we want to visit these cute little towns. In addition, the waterways (actually the marinas and lock walls are getting more crowded with Canadians on vacation or on a weekend outing.

At 7:50 a.m. we left with Meander to go Fenelon Falls. Today we traveled through several lakes usually joined by a narrow channel. Then at Sturgeon Point, the charts showed a “seaplane landing zone”. We’ve seen a number seaplanes along the shore in someone’s backyard, but fortunately we haven’t had to share a channel with one yet.

As we approached Fenelon Falls, we left the wide open lake for a narrow channel lined with pretty homes.

We arrived at 10:30 a.m., got through the lock and tied up to a wall. Meander was behind us. In a few minutes, Pier Pressure arrived and tied up behind Meander. By noon, there were no empty spaces on the lock wall for any other boats. The boat traffic passing by us has been steady most of the day.
