Deltaville, VA – May 10, 2014

Day 71
Miles Today: 0 SM; Total Miles: 1,242 SM
Locks Today: 0 ; Total Locks: 7

We’re still at Dozier Regatta Point Marina in Deltaville. The marina is pretty full with Loopers, including a couple more that came in today (Mazel Tug and Top Secret). We’ve enjoyed meeting new Loopers and hopefully we’ll see many of them along the way.

In the afternoon there were dinghy races. It was hilarious to watch. A buoy was placed inside the fairway of the marina that served as the course. There were no motors used so each dinghy had to be rowed. It was a timed race with the person rowing being blindfolded and the helmsman’s job was to give directions to the blindfolded “rower” navigating the course around the buoy. As expected some contestants were better than others but everyone had fun.

Following the dinghy races, a storm approached so we retreated to the banquet room at the marina where we would have our potluck dinner. The wind came up quickly and it rained buckets for a short time, but that didn’t dampen the spirits.
